Alabama Aerospace Industry

Igniting Innovation

Alabama’s long and distinguished history with the aerospace industry began over 100 years ago when the Wright brothers established their first “Civilian Flight School” here in 1910.

Since then, we’ve steadily grown into an epicenter for aerospace and defense industries with over 400 companies operating in the state, employing more than 83,000 people. And with Airbus launching assembly of A320 Family passenger jets at its new $600 million plant in Mobile, Alabama’s aerospace industry is showing no signs of slowing its ascent anytime soon.
