HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – State Sen. Paul Sanford has been appointed to the new Alabama Small Business Commission.
Senate President Pro Tem Dal Marsh tapped Sanford, R-Huntsville, to serve on the legislative advisory panel because of his experience as a small business owner. Sanford and his wife, Danielle, own and operate Little Paul’s Barbecue on Madison Street. He also recently launched a line of seasoning blends for wild game.
“I can think of no better person to serve in this capacity than Paul Sanford,” said Marsh. “Paul is a successful entrepreneur who grew up in his family’s barbecue business.”
The Alabama Small Business Commission was created to encourage innovation and promote policies to help new and expanding business with 50 or fewer employees. The group is comprised entirely of small and independent business owners.
“Our number one priority right now is to create a business-friendly atmosphere to help attract companies that will create jobs across Alabama,” said Sanford. “It is great when big industry comes in, but jobs created by small businesses far outnumber larger companies almost 3 to 1.”
Sanford has held the District 7 Senate seat representing most of the Huntsville city limits since June 2009. He is up for re-election next month against Democrat Bryan Bennett.
